#MAC ALTERNATIVES TO VISIO FOR MAC#
I use a mac for work and there isn't a Visio version for mac is what caused me to shift. It's open source and multiplatform (works on mac, linux, windows, etc.).
It can read Visio documents just fine although it can't write that format. I use Libreoffice which is a suite similar to office, but it's draw program is pretty much the same as Visio. I would use this tool over Visio and have already done so when creating 41 process flow maps for the treasury and finance departments at a large mutual insurance company. It is cloud based, but you can save your process flows in PDF. There are tutorials on the site and I think it is worth a look. It also has SIPOC functionality, places to document pain points and the ability to turn process flow maps into workflows, if so desired. You can quickly jot down the steps as someone talks without having to worry about creating the boxes, etc. One of the main things is that you can type things in an outline format of sorts (you can type a step and then create a sub-step by hitting tab) and then go over to the process flow view and the activities/steps are created for you based on the hierarchical format of the text/outline you typed.
I had to learn the tool quickly because I was sent to a client that used it and we needed to produce 40+ process flow maps to maintain in their Blueworks library.
